This is the new book our small group is completing on Wednesday night. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religous complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts - it's falling in love with God. and once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you're wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.
This blog was created for the Cambrian Park Church to suggest, review, share and discuss interesting books they are reading.

ReplyDeleteI am really hoping that a new small group will be developed. Cindy Cooner has been leading a small group in my home each week for almost 3 years now! I remember the first series was by Andy Stanley called Take It to the Limit. The lessons learned are still at work in me. But even more important than the lessons the group has learned is the depth of the relationships and our commitment to one another.
ReplyDeleteI loved the chocolate fountain on Sunday. Thanks for organizing it! I wish I could be apart of a small group but having a kid limits me. I'm definitely following the blog though and would love to chat via this blog.
ReplyDeleteI read chapter one and a question stuck out to me after reading page 29: Why is it so difficult to love God? I respect Him and am glad He has done so much for me, that's for sure, but true, complete love...I fall short. Anyone else?
I think we all fall short at times, of course some more than others, but does that matter? I am learning that I need to get to the place where I put God in everything I do, that might sound easy, but I get caught up in myself/my life so easy. Thank God, He takes me back every time.
ReplyDeleteQuestions for you after reading Chapter 1:
ReplyDeleteWhat would you say if you were before God on the Throne?
How has this chapter changed your relationship with God this week?
If it hasn't been changed, why do you think that is?
If I was able to speak at all, I think i would say I Love you.
ReplyDeleteI am finding ways to acknowledge God as our Creator, also accepting that it is more than I can comprehend.
I am looking forward to hearing your responses to chapter 1!
Our Wednesday night small group tackled the question "What would you say in the presence of God?" I would be speechless. I have always thought of God as too holy. I have always wanted to have a conversation as a friend with Him. I think He wants that. What do you think? Read Isaiah 6 and Revelation 4. Also, read chapter 2. Come to our small group every Wednesday night at 06:45 p.m. at the Chaney's house. We would love to have you.
ReplyDeleteI've always felt that I'd be speechless when I come before God's throne. Who am I to say anything? He's too Holy and Amazing.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading chapter 4, profile of the lukewarm, I found myself reevaluating whether I was lukewarm or a "slacker". If I went straight home after work instead of visiting the sick in the hospital or sat in front of the TV instead of studying my bible study, I would be a "slacker". Jesus was the greatest example of not being cold or lukewarm. Look where it got Him. I hope to see Him there one day. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteThis chapter felt like a reality check. I need to be more careful or purposeful in how i spend my time (or how i live). One of the comments made at our small group last night, was that if you feel like you need to make some adjustments, that is a good thing, because you are being convicted. Don't feel badly about the realization, make some adjustments. Remember to keep a good balance too. We are also meant to enjoy the life God gave us.
